What God has shown us in our everyday world is remarkable. Even the things we take for granted are enough to blow our minds when we examine them, much less the truly remarkable things of life. If we’re looking for God to reveal Himself to us, I don’t believe we have to look very far. I believe He reveals Himself to us every day.
Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” This verse is so succinctly stated, and so widely known by everybody, and yet is so easily dismissed by so many. Mankind may try to look for any alternative scenarios that could exist, but will inevitably keep coming back to this one truth—God created it. He is the beginning and the end. All things begin and end with Him.
Romans 1:20: “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, [even] his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:” If we want ample evidence of God’s existence, then we need look no further than His visible creation. People want hard evidence, yet the evidence is overwhelming. God has not only shown us He exists in His creation, but has revealed elements of Himself, and His character, by His creation.
Isaiah 40:22: “[It is] he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof [are] as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:” What this verse describes is how big God is and how small we are. It really puts things in perspective. It shows me my own limits and ineptitude. It keeps pride from creeping into my life.
1 Corinthians 8:6: “But to us [there is but] one God, the Father, of whom [are] all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom [are] all things, and we by him.” God created all things. He even created a way for us to get to Him. That way is through His Son Jesus Christ. Our relationship with the Father is through the Son. God not only created all of this world, but He also created us. And He created us to be in relationship with Him.
Jeremiah 29:13: “And ye shall seek me, and find [me], when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” While I believe God has made His existence readily apparent, we still have to seek Him in order to get to know Him. God has given us all we need in order to know Him. But we have to make the effort to know Him. We can easily know a lot about Him and still not know Him. It’s done by spending time with Him and in His word. It grows and gets bigger from there. The more we do this, the more we know. I guess you could say, “It’s a numbers game.”
