That we live in the realm where time and space converge is sure, but how God works in all of that is something of a mystery. Somehow God is able to exist and observe from outside the timeline in which we live. He knows what needs to happen when. He oversees it all. That you are here right now means there’s a reason. Knowing that gives you a sense of purpose. And being confident you’re here at just the right time frees you to do what He’s called you to do.
1 Corinthians 15:8: “And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time.” In the sense that Paul refers to it here, we are all as men born out of time. Paul didn’t have a resurrection experience as the original disciples did, but Jesus appeared to Him at a later time on the road to Damascus. Like Paul, we all encounter Jesus at different times and in different ways. But the experience is no less genuine, and it’s no less real. We all have a unique calling. Paul was called to the Gentiles and to establish churches there, so his timing was different. He didn’t need to feel “less than” because he was at a different time; he was made for that time.
Jeremiahs 1:5: “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, [and] I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” Here God speaks to Jeremiah about how He knew Him before he was even born. If God knew him before he was born, then it stands to reason God knew when he should be born. It stands to reason God timed it in order for Jeremiah to have his maximum effect. He thought, “This is a good time for Jeremiah to be born. He’ll have his greatest effect here. I’ll bless him and guide him through this particular expanse of time. I’ll anoint him to impact his world right here.”
Isaiahs 9:6: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.” What’s interesting is that this verse wasn’t written at the time of Jesus’ birth, but was a prophecy of His birth. But God speaks as though it is happening in the ‘now’. I suppose to God everything is ‘now’. In a similar way, we should be acting in the now. We can’t effect the past, or the future, but only the present. Jesus was sent to impact the world not only at that time, but throughout time. He pierced through the timeline at a specific place, and the effects have sent ripples throughout the spans of time.
Esther 4:14: “For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, [then] shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for [such] a time as this?” I believe Esther did obtain favor with King Ahasuerus of Persia for such a time as this. The Bible tells the story of Esther for a reason. It tells the story of the impact one person can have. It also tells the story of God placing someone in the right place at the right time. Through Esther, the Jewish people were saved from the evil schemes of a high official. She could only have that impact at this particular time.
Galatians 4:4: “But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,” From what we do know about God, we know that God acts through seasons. God has a season for everything. God sent His Son here because the season was fully mature. The time for the coming of the Messiah had come. Being ‘born out of time’ as in at the wrong time, I don’t think exists. I guess you could say that Jesus was ‘born out of time’, in the sense of one who existed even before there was time, but more importantly He was ‘born into time’ as He entered our time and space to impact it forever. And the results speak for themselves.
