…Let’s go deeper—Revolutions fail when no moral component exists

If you want to talk about Revolutionaries, Jesus was the greatest Revolutionary of all time. He came to Earth, and nothing has been the same since. When He talked about change, He meant change for the better. And Jesus made some truly revolutionary statements.

Proverbs 29:18: “Where [there is] no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy [is] he.” What God wants to give us is a vision for our future. He wants us to have in mind where we want to go. If you don’t know where you want to go, then how will you ever know when you get there? A goal expressly stated is a goal you can aim for. That’s what vision does—it allows you to see.

Matthew 10:34: “Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.” Though Jesus is the Prince of Peace, He knew there would be detractors from His goals and His Kingdom. Instead of trying to appease them, He had to set a clear dividing line. This is where a revolution begins. The lines are clearly drawn and the stakes are clearly stated.
John 10:10: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.” Jesus made evident why He came. The abundant life was to be made available to all who would accept it. He wasn’t just wanting to get us out of a bad situation. He was wanting to lead us into a life filled with abundance in Him. This life of abundance is what He had planned for us from the beginning.

Jeremiah 29:11: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” God’s revolution is a lasting revolution because He has greater plans for us than even we know. He points us in the right direction, but we don’t fully see the destination from here. But he has an expected end for us. That’s all we need to know. The rest just requires our trust in Him that will be faithful to lead us there.

1 John 1:9: “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us [our] sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” When speaking of revolution on Earth we think of changes without, but the change God wants to make are the changes within—the ones within us. These are the most important and most dynamic changes to Him. It starts with one person and spreads from there. This revolution is a permanent one. It not only changes us for here and now, but for eternity—the age to come.
