…Let’s go deeper—Is it teaching or indoctrination?

God explicitly stated that His word is true. We can take His word for it. But if we still question whether that’s the case, we can see if it just stands on its own merit. We can also apply it to our own life and see what kind of results are produced.

John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Jesus came right out and said that He is the truth. Truth has a way of playing itself out. Jesus stood on His own. And He came not to serve His own purposes, but to serve His Father’s. He didn’t come to be served, but to serve. That’s one way He showed He is the Truth.

1 Corinthians 2:11: “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.” Whether we’re being told the truth or not, we know the truth in our hearts. There is a truth that supersedes the present world we live in. When we don’t know the truth in our heads, God reveals the truth to our hearts.

Proverbs 30:5: “Every word of God [is] pure: he [is] a shield unto them that put their trust in him.” God’s words are pure because they’re true. The thing about truth is that, not only can it stand on its own, but it’s also a shield against everything that’s false. That’s a powerful thing. And that’s why truth is so valuable.

2 Timothy 3:16: “All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” The learning of the Word of God is meant to be for our benefit. That’s one way we can know that it’s true. There is no hidden agenda here other than to show us how to live. It’s really an instruction manual for our life. Follow the manual and you’ll get good outcomes.

John 10:10: “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have [it] more abundantly.” The whole reason Jesus came to earth was to benefit us, to show us how to live, to give us life, and to give His life for us. He is trying to lead us to the truth, not some hidden agenda. The truth of His word is like Jesus Himself—He can stand on His own and is the plumb-line by which everything else is measured.

God’s Word is true. Don’t believe me? Just begin to apply it to your own life. See where it takes you. You can’t argue with results.
