…Let’s go deeper—Society accepts all ideas but the truth

Well, to be sure, God has given us a moral framework to work within. There are moral laws and truths that we can apply to our own lives that not only keep us out of trouble, but allow us to live successful, fulfilling and meaningful lives. God gave us an entire book called ‘The Bible’ filled with these truths. And it’s a blessing to have them. We just need to apply them to our lives.

John 9:41: “Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.” There’s no worse state to be in than thinking you have the truth, but not really having it. This was the situation when Jesus was talking to the Pharisees. I think the truth scares a lot of people; that’s why they are afraid to embrace it. I think that was part of the reason with the Pharisees, along with pride. They didn’t see it because they didn’t want to. That’s sometimes the case with us. Along with a willingness to see the truth, we have to have the courage to embrace it.

1 Corinthians 3:18: “Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.” Along with willingness and courage to see truth, we also have to have humility. This means we need to be willing to question what we only think we know. When this verse talks about becoming a fool, it really means you become a fool only in the world’s eyes. In reality, you are becoming the wisest person there is, and wise in the eyes of God. This wisdom that is from above is applicable to all areas of life, not just our spiritual life, but our natural life too.

John 8:32: “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” The great thing about truth is that it truly does set us free. Once we embrace the truth, we aren’t bound by the chains of sin anymore. And it sets us free from the confusion of the world’s ‘wisdom’. We are no longer wandering around aimlessly because we can now see clearly.

2 Timothy 3:16: “All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” These truths that God has shared with us are within the pages of His written Word. The moral standard and plumb line is all laid out in here. By it, we can know how to conduct our lives in a way that’s pleasing to God, and a way that helps us become successful. This is like the physics book that tells us the laws of nature, only this tells us the laws of life. Those things we couldn’t see about ourselves before will be revealed when we get into this book.

John 14:6: “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Not only does God tell us the truth; He is the truth. Jesus declared that He is the truth. He also declared that He is the only way to God. Moral relativists don’t like this idea. It makes them nervous. They want there to be a plurality of ideas. They want to be able to determine their own morality. Or, if they do have a belief in God, they want to be able to mix and match a bunch of religions together to form it to their own liking. I just wonder if anyone has explained to them how little sense this makes. Maybe it’s not a lack of evidence that’s the problem, but just the unwillingness to see it.
