We desire an infilling of more of Him to fulfill what He would have us to do. Our gifts aren’t just for us, but to be used for the advancing of God’s Kingdom. When Paul says, “…and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way”, he’s showing you there’s a higher life to live. It is something better because it’s for a higher purpose. It’s for something more outside of ourselves; it’s for something eternal.

Our pursuit of more of Him must inevitably lead to less of us. And that’s a good thing. It’s not something to fear. For the more of Him we receive also takes us to higher levels in Him. The righteousness we receive by faith also brings us to higher levels of faith. We desire something more, and believe for something more, because He has revealed to us that there is something more—something better.
