Have you ever had any crazy ideas? Actually, what constitutes a crazy idea? I was just thinking about several different ideas that everyone called crazy at the time. There are a lot of them if you scan back through history.
I think through history and wonder about all the people that were called crazy at the time. Think of Christopher Columbus. He had this crazy idea that if he sailed West he would eventually run into India. So, he was basically looking for a trade route to India. Crazy Christopher Columbus, you can’t sail west and run into India. Besides, you’ll sail off the edge of the earth. Actually It’s the people who thought he would sail off the edge of the world that were wrong. No, actually that’s not the case either. Most educated people knew that the earth was round at that time, regardless of what we might have been taught in school. Of course, who knows about the uneducated population at the time. Also, he didn’t run into India. He ran into America. Even better. So, that actually turned out pretty well. I’m sure someone would have discovered our continent eventually. But it wouldn’t have happened quite as soon if Columbus hadn’t had his crazy idea when he did.
There are all kinds of things like this. They wouldn’t have happened if someone hadn’t thought outside of the box. You sometimes wonder where all these ideas came from. I mean, think about coffee, for instance. I ordered a coffee the other morning. Who thought of that idea? Can you imagine this scene? Hey guys, I have an idea. Let’s take some beans off this plant. Then let’s roast the beans. Then we can grind them up and run some hot water through them. I think this will make some tasty water. No one had probably tried it before, but someone thought it was a good idea. It turned out to be a pretty good idea, even though it probably sounded crazy at the time. In case you haven’t noticed all the coffee shops in your town, it seems to be catching on.
Bottom line is, the real movers and shakers, in the world, didn’t just go with the flow and accept commonly held beliefs. They thought for themselves and thought outside of the box. This begs the question: What is a crazy idea? Is an idea crazy just because the rest of the world thinks it’s crazy, or is it just crazy because it defies logic? Well, I think often it’s just perceived as crazy because no one else thought of it. Sometimes it is crazy because it does defy logic. Sometimes it’s both. However if it’s crazy just because the rest of the world thinks it’s crazy then maybe they’re the crazy ones. Public opinion doesn’t mean an idea is right. I think history has proven that. I think this gives us hope to not give up on some of the dreams we have.
So, how does this relate to God and the ideas he has for us? Well, we’re in good company, because the Bible’s filled with instances of people following an idea God placed in their hearts and minds. There are a lot of specific instances in the Bible. But there’s one chapter in the Bible that sums them up pretty well. It’s in Hebrews 11. This chapter is often also known as the Hall of Fame of Faith. These people all believed and trusted God. It starts out saying in Hebrews 11:1: “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” This verse explains how faith works. Then it proceeds to briefly describe all the great people of faith throughout the Bible. It also says in Hebrews 11:6: “But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” So, all the people listed in this chapter not only pleased God with their faith but were rewarded for their faith in God.

Well, it is worrisome for not only the cardiovascular system but tablet sildenafil also the male sexual health. Then it goes on to tell about Noah in Hebrews 11:7, “By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.” So, Noah through this act of building an ark showed his faith in God. Can you imagine the ridicule he must have endured for this act of faith? This was no short period of time either. Not only was it a big task, it took a long period of time. This task no doubt took several decades to complete. That’s an impressive faith.
Abraham is also mentioned, along with Isaac, and Jacob, and Joseph. Moses is mentioned prominently. He’s described in these three verses in Hebrews 11:24-26: By faith Moses, when he was come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter; Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt: for he had respect unto the recompence of the reward.” He had ‘respect unto the recompence of the reward’, meaning he believed God would reward his efforts. Through his efforts, the Israelites were brought out of slavery in Egypt. This was a huge part of Gods’ plan and Moses was a big part of it because he believed God.
There are several more mentioned including Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel and the prophets, even Rahab the Harlot is mentioned. These people all did things that weren’t popular. They believed God was with them, though.
I guess all that makes me wonder: What has God placed in your heart or mind to do that might seem crazy to everyone else? These things might seem crazy, or even impossible. They’re not, though, when God is in it. He’s just looking for someone to believe Him like the people listed in this Hebrews 11.
